'Hari-Bhari Vasundhara' is looking for donations to attain self sustainability in area of waste management
Hari Bhari Vasundhara is an award winning NGO in areas of afforestation, waste management, reusability and plastic-reduction primarily based in Hisar, Haryana.
Since its inception in 2014, Hari Bhari Vasundhara has played pivotal role in afforestation by planting and maintaining around 8k trees. The NGO additionally maintains a stockpile of steel utensils and motivates people to borrow them free of cost for tableware use in events and functions to discourage the use of plastic.
Apart from planting trees, the NGO has recently set up a composting plant in Hisar city to convert organic waste into compost. This whole piece of work is supported by daily waste collection from restaurants, parks and temples. Thereby the waste is manually segregated to filter out bio-degradable materials which are then put into machines for conversion into compost.
The compost thus produced can be sold to support the expenditures encountered in carrying out above process end to end. This process thus has potential to gain self-sustainability to avoid reliance on continuous donations. NGO has thus far been supported by local donations by supportive citizens and civic bodies however, lately it has not proven sufficient and has marred the composting activity due to shortage of funds.
NGO is looking for donations of around Rs 1 Lac to help the team establish the logistics and supply chain involved in various stages of this waste management process. The NGO has identified that even though there is good demand of compost however, there are bottlenecks in waste collection process due to which the plant is not run to its full capacity. NGO aims to increase manpower and transportation involved in waste collection with these funds to enable sufficient produce to be generated from the plant, selling which can bring about requisite money to cover cost and expenditure incurred in production. It will help NGO become self-sufficient while serving the greater cause of environmental protection.
